Garden Reflections

Entering my garden on a summer night
butterflies congregate together in flight
Fragrance of flowers permeate the air
stop to pick one to place in my hair

Sitting on a bench I ponder thoughts
reflect childhood days that are lost
A cool breeze floats from the west
giving comfort while I sit and rest

Reminded of work that isn't done
I question myself wanting some fun
Like days my children didn't know
roses gave happiness to the soul

Thoughts of friendships in full bloom
time slipping by for us all too soon
But sharing memories from the past
unlike rainbows and rain they last

I sit in my garden planted long ago
gray white hair and lines that show
Reflect on life and all my good years
hold back emotions of bitter sweet tears
